Rick Rickard

Before retiring in 2001, Rick Rickard commuted between Oakland and San Francisco via bicycle and BART, basing his commute out of his bike locker at Rockridge BART. Now retired from a career in financial services (but keeping his hand in as a part-time investment consultant), Rick's contributions to the EBBC board include database maintenance & mailing label production as well as representing EBBC on the Oakland-based Measure DD Coalition. The coalition works with city staff in the implementation of Measure DD, which funded major park & recreational facilities--most notably for bicyclists, the redesign & reconstruction of the 12th Street Dam, aka the "world's shortest freeway."

Rick is a serious recreational cyclist, an addiction that leads him daily to ask the question, "How did I have time to work a full-time job?"
